Interview
We talked to Andrew Bogan of Easts TigerTV, media arm of the Brisbane Eastern Tigers and asked him a few things about his company
and how Live Score influenced the way he works and broadcasts.
Thank you for the interview.
1. Tell us something about you and your company/work?
Easts TigerTV is a digital media arm of Eastern Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club in Coorparoo, Brisbane, Australia.
We are the Social, Online New media content creator for the club, and part of this service is live streaming the
Top Level Team for the Intrust Super Cup of the Queensland Rugby League (QRL).
Having started in 2011 as a YouTube channel, we have become a leader in local content production in the QRL competition.
2. How did you find Live Score and what was your first impression?
It was a happy accident to be fair that we found Live Score App.
Having gone through using the in-built scoreboard on Livestream Studio
proved to be too limited in settings and clunky to use actively during an event.
We looked at Caspar CG which was too advanced and required a heavy duty machine and did not offer Rugby or Rugby League scoring options,
SBE Scoreboard which was too light, and like Caspar CG did not offer Rugby League scoring.
BoinxTV which required a mac which was no problem until it needed an chrome mask to hide the excess and limited your graphic choices
because of colours meshing with the chroma key.
As soon as I discovered Live Score App with the glorious option
Rugby Score pack and AFL score pack, I had immediate impressions and downloaded the Trial, which we tested with a Trial Game.
And pulled off with Flying colours.
The setup requires some knowledge of the program, which Christian was very happy to assist.
It is cumbersome at first, but once you have created your preferred scoreboard face and match details, and saving those details,
makes it as simple as loading the template and off you go, with in minutes.
3. How do you use Live Score and how does it change the way you work?
Live Score App is used on a secondary laptop with a progressive Dynamic PNG output and imported into
LiveStream Studio
as a PNG
with active folder update turned on, and it acts like a live overlay (which it is).
Because it's a dynamic PNG, it comes with auto Alpha and no need to use a chroma key. It loads into Livestream Studio actively
and you can cover it with your own graphics or additions.
And if you cannot find the computer on the network, the Livestream Studio saves the face of the image so you
can hide technical (network) issues on the scoreboard face.
So when you find the issue you simply auto push the graphic back on, but make no mistake - this was not a program error,
simply a network disconnection thanks in part to a windows update.
4. Which projects and shows have you been involved and what are you currently working on?
Intrust Super Cup Streaming is what we are currently using the scoreboard on.
We will eventually be going into baseball for Australian Baseball League, which has no coverage visually at this stage.
